Through internal growth and acquisitions, Medtronic has grown to a 40,000+ employee, $16B+ organization with over 200 offices throughout the world. The business is strengthened by a broad portfolio covering 8 major therapy areas. In addition to the Medtronic business overview, Dr. Drapeau will delve into the details of the Spine business and Biologic therapies. She will provide insights into her career path and discuss the future of business and Biomedical Engineering.
Dr. Susan Drapeau received her PhD in Chemical Engineering from Rice University and holds both a BS in Chemistry and in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University. Dr. Drapeau is currently Director of Biologics R&D at Medtronic, where she has been employed since 2001. In her current role Dr. Drapeau is responsible to direct research and product development teams for novel technologies for spine, orthopedic and pain therapies. In addition, Dr. Drapeau is accountable for the coordination of all product development aspects from conception/due diligence through launch and product maintenance phases including M&A integration. Prior to joining Medtronic Dr. Drapeau was Senior Manager for Bone Products with Osiris Therapeutics, Inc.
