The University of Kansas continues to make entrepreneurship a key initiative, in part with the inaugural Celebration of Innovation: A Startup Showcase, set for 1-5 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Bioscience & Technology Business Center facility on KU’s west campus.

The University of Kansas is one of four finalists in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship category of the upcoming University Economic Development Association Awards of Excellence program. Julie Nagel, interim associate vice chancellor for innovation and collaboration, will make a formal presentation at the annual UEDA Summit, September 27-30 in Anchorage, Alaska. Winners will be chosen by the summit attendees.

The University of Kansas has earned a prestigious distinction for its leadership in fostering local and regional economic development. The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) announced today that KU has been named to its 2015 class of Innovation & Economic Prosperity Universities. KU is one of only 18 institutions nationwide chosen this year, joining just 30 others selected since the program began in 2013.

A KU startup company has received a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from NASA to further develop an unmanned aircraft system collision avoidance radar.
