David Richart joined KUCTC in summer 2018 as a Licensing Associate focused on engineering, physical science, and computer science technologies. David is responsible for identifying new technologies developed by faculty and researchers, evaluating technologies from the perspective of patentability and commercialization, identifying licensees and industry partners, and negotiating and drafting various license and option agreements. His responsibilities further include educating faculty members on intellectual property protection and performing due diligence for startup company formation.
David is a registered patent attorney. Prior to joining the KUCTC, he prepared and prosecuted patent applications for IBM. He also worked at Syracuse University’s Office of Technology Transfer. He earned a J.D. from Syracuse University and an undergraduate degree in biochemistry from the University of Kansas.
